The Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries is now accepting applications for growing and processing industrial hemp next year. Applications will be accepted until Nov. 27. The Alabama Legislature approved the development of a licensing and inspection program for industrial hemp in 2016, and farmers put in their first hemp crops in 2019 after passage of the 2018 Farm Bill.
