A consortium owned by the European Industrial Hemp Association (EIHA) has submitted a novel foods application for natural CBD isolate and full spectrum CBD products to the Food Standards Agency of the United Kingdom. The application includes toxicological studies focused on product safety, and data on six years of stability tests. EIHA is also preparing to submit a similar separate application to the European Food Safety Authority, with the objective of securing regulatory clarity for CBD across the EU. EIHA has said the consortium, organized as EIHA projects GmbH, an entity separate from but wholly owned by the Association, will invest as much as €3.5 million in its novel foods efforts over the next two to three years.
