The market for hemp building materials is still small, but momentum is growing. Hemp building not only offers the possibility to create more healthy dwellings, but can mitigate greenhouse emissions due to hemp’s outsized ability to sequester carbon. Applications such as hempcrete, “hempwood,” insulation and other hurd- and fiber-based materials are expanding, driven by innovation worldwide and the critical need to reverse climate change.
