The state of Iowa’s Department of Inspections and Appeals announced registration for consumable hemp products will open March 3. Registration is required in Iowa for producers and sellers of hemp products, including CBD. The department is now accepting applications and will begin reviewing them ahead of the legal start date next week. Businesses may begin sales as soon as their registrations are approved. Consumable hemp products in Iowa include food and food additives, dietary supplements, tinctures, chew or snuff, and oils and lotions. Vaping and smoking products are prohibited. Consumable hemp registrations are separate for producers and sellers. Each costs $475 per year.
