U.S.-based cbdMD, Inc. said it formed a new wholly-owned subsidiary, cbdMD Therapeutics LLC, to work on research and development projects. The company named Sibyl Swift, a former U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) official, as a regulatory consultant, and Lance Blundell, the company’s general counsel, to serve as co-chairs of the new unit. CbdMD Therapeutics will explore the therapeutic potential of CBD and the other cannabinoids, and carry out clinical trials and toxicity studies, the company said. CbdMD makes CBD tinctures, capsules, gummies, topicals, bath bombs and pet products.
