The Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA) officially named Denver-based Marijuana Policy Group (MPG Consulting to help develop a state Hemp Center of Excellence. A strategic plan for the initiative is to be completed by July this year. Colorado Commissioner of Agriculture Kate Greenberg said the center was developed with input from more than 200 stakeholders across the state. The CDA says the selection of MPG was based on the recommendation of a committee that included a member of the Colorado Agriculture Commission, a member of the Hemp Advisory Committee, and other leaders and experts in Colorado agriculture and purchasing. A grass-roots initiative in Colorado earlier challenged the awarding of the MPG contract by state officials.
