The California city of Camarillo, Ventura County voted to ban industrial hemp growing during a public hearing last week. Vice Mayor Susan Santangelo and Councilman Shawn Mulchay voted against the ban; Mayor Tony Trembley and council members Kevin Kildee and Charlotte Craven voted for it. Four other cities in Ventura county have already banned hemp growing: Fillmore, Moorpark, Thousand Oaks and Ojai. The County’s Board of Supervisors is considering the regulation of hemp cultivation, and is expected to discuss the issue this week.
