Legendary cannabis researcher Raphael Mechoulam has earned Israel’s Harvey Prize for his innovative research into the components, mechanisms and implications for human health of the cannabinoid system. Mechoulam is the first researcher to have isolated THC and mapped its structure and major elements. The Harvey Prize is awarded each year for outstanding achievements in science and technology, human health, and contributions to humanity. The award has become an indicator for the Nobel Prize, with some 30% of recipients having received both.
