Three Dutch companies have combined to create a line of recyclable, carbon-negative chairs for home and office from a hemp-based bio-composite. HempFlax provided fiber for the chairs to Dutch custom furniture makers VepaDrentea, with the novel biomaterial molded into form by Plantics, a Dutch bio-plastics developer. The material employs natural industrial hemp fibers with a biological resin, both of which are plant-based, biodegradable and recyclable. Non-woven fabric mats used in the production are suitable for a range of industrial applications. The individual components of the chair are designed to be easily separated and reused.
