Pennsylvania opens license applications

Pennsylvania farmers can now submit applications for state hemp licenses by mail, with an online application process for growers and processors set to open in January. New permits for 2021 for both growers and processors cost $150; renewal of existing licenses is $50. The state recently made it easier for small farmers to grow hemp by reducing the minimum number of plants per grower from 300 to 150. The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture will host a virtual hemp summit tomorrow and Wednesday. More than 500 growers and 60 processors received permits from the state in 2020, up from 324 in 2019.
