The mayor of the small Ukrainian town of Hlukhiv says his administration is working to create a hemp healing center as part of an effort to boost the local economy, Euromaidan Press has reported.

Michel Tereshchenko, mayor of the town (pop. 36,000) in northeastern Ukraine’s Sumy region since 2015, said he continues to line up investors for the facility, which is planned for opening this autumn. Sumy is a traditional hemp growing area in the Ukraine, and Hlukhiv boasts an Institute of Bast Crops which dates to 1932.
