U.S. outerwear maker Patagonia and the State of Colorado have joined in a pilot project to grow hemp for textiles in an initiative the state’s governor, Jared Polis, said reflects his administration’s goal to develop hemp initiatives with marquee companies. Wright-Oaks Farms, a family farm in Alamosa County’s San Luis Valley, was selected to grow the hemp. Patagonia provided seed from its Chinese textile supplier, which is also advising on how best to grow the fiber variety.
