Germany’s Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) is warning the public about sellers of dietary supplements such as ginger extracts and hemp oil, and other non-hemp formulas, who claim their products can be treatment for the coronavirus. Government agencies say they found 60 such offers on the internet in Germany. Vendors either changed the offers or deleted them when notified by authorities. A Europe-wide check found nearly 600 “suspicious websites” offering such products, BVL said. Dietary supplements can neither prevent nor cure Covid-19 diseases, and should not be advertised in relation to any illnesses, the German consumer office warned.
