Massachusetts opens land for hemp

The state of Massachusetts has opened up some 73,000 acres of protected farmland to hemp production. The land was previously blocked from all forms of cannabis growing. The Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources said policy changes regarding horticultural uses for the land have set aside restrictions under the state’s Agricultural Preservation Restriction Program of 1979, which protects farmland for future agricultural use.
