Construction with hemp-straw bales can be a low-cost building method, according to Antonio Trionfi Honorati of Federcanapa, an Italian hemp federation.
Honorati will make a presentation for about do-it-yourself hemp-bale construction during this year’s European Industrial Hemp Association (EIHA) conference June 7-8 in Cologne, Germany.
The construction combines the hemp bales, a wooden frame and lime plaster in the walls. Honorati will also review electrical, hydraulic systems and a solar system that could go into a fully sustainable building.
Participants from 35 countries have already signed up for the EIHA conference, which this year has been moved to Cologne.
