Festival organizers in the USA’s northwest have consolidated initiatives to produce PDX Hempfest Expo June 10 in Portland, Oregon. The partners, Seattle Hempfest (Washington state) and the former Oregon Hemp Convention are working under a franchise agreement.

“We are thrilled to partner with our Portland family as we continue to define the Pacific Northwest as a regional leader in the burgeoning cannabis industry,” said Vivian McPeak, Seattle Hempfest’s executive director. “Cannabis is not the gateway to hard drugs like we’ve been told, but it can be a gateway to economic recovery and sustainability. The proof will be on full display at the PDX Hempfest Expo,” McPeak said.

The one-day event will feature educational presentations by industry leaders on such topics as cannabis law, security, human resources, insurance and banking, cannabis growing and processing. Also on the program are an investors’ pitch deck forum and an Oregon State Advisory Rules Committee Q&A, organizers said.

Also currently in agreements to operate under the Hempfest brand are events such as Oregon Hempfest (formerly Umpqua Valley Hempfest), June 23-25; the Boise (Idaho) Hempfest, running this Saturday, April 15; the Houston (Alaska) Hempfest (June 23-25); and the Austin (Texas) Hempfest (October).

Oregon Hemp Convention, the Oregon partner for the PDX Hempfest June 10, was organized three years running by Jerry Norton, also founder of Salem-based American Hemp Seed Genetics.
