Italian fiber hemp varieties Carmagnola and CS (Carmagnola Selezionata) have been de-certified and removed from the European catalog of plant varieties. The two well-known Italian fiber hemp varieties have been marked “Deletion = 11.03.2019; Market_ extension = 30.06.2021” in the official EU plant list. Custodian of the varieties is Italy’s Council for Agricultural Research and Economics (CREA), while Assocanapa srl, a seed company, produces the seeds. Carmagnola and CS are grown primarily to harvest fiber for textiles.
