The U.S. state of Louisiana is accepting applications for 2021 industrial hemp licenses. Licenses are required for growing, handling, transporting or processing hemp or hemp seed. Applicants must pass a criminal background check. Louisiana’s hemp legalization came after Congress’ 2018 Farm Bill removed the crop from the list of federally controlled substances. Next year will be the second year for hemp growing under the Louisiana state program.
