Canadian firm looks to buy Swiss CBD operation

Ontario, Canada-based medical marijuana producer Maricann says it will spend $8.5 million to buy Haxxon AG, a Swiss hemp grower and processor specializing in CBD. Haxxon has a 60,000-square-foot facility in Regensdorf, near Zurich. Maricann said it will pay $2.1 in cash and the rest in stock. The company said it hopes to wrap up the deal by the end of March. Haxxon makes hemp CBD products such as vape cartridges and “nobacco” hemp cigarettes. Maricann trades on the Canadian Securities Exchange.


$5 million investment for Kentucky hemp complex

Kentucky firm AgTech Scientific says it will invest $5 million to create a new 50,000-square-foot complex to develop and make hemp products. AgTech has plans to buy 10 acres and take an option on an additional 10-acres in the Bourbon County Business Park in Paris, Kentucky, the state’s governor, Matt Bevin recently announced. The operation is expected to employ 270 workers. AgTech works with with Kentucky farmers and other partners on research with the University of Kentucky.

Canadian hemp coffee maker Cool Hemp has started selling its Premium Hemp Arabica Coffee in the USA via retailers on Amazon. The 13-oz. (369 g) cans of the organic, kosher and gluten-free coffee for drip brewing sell for about $15.99. Cornwall, Ontario-based Cool Hemp is one of Canada’s oldest hemp food companies, dating to 1996.
