Tommy Gibbons, COO of Ketchum, Idaho-based Hempitecture, will use funding from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for research and development into hemp insulation for the construction industry. Gibbons earned a $90,000 annual stipend and up to $200,000 for the two-year research project based on Hempitecture’s HempWool batt insulation. The funding is from the DOE’s Innovation Crossroads program for startups.
