Farmers looking to grow hemp in South Carolina can apply for permits between now and the end of February, the state’s Department of Agriculture announced. South Carolina’s hemp program, approved by the U.S. Department of Agriculture last year, has grown from 20 farmers in 2018 to 265 farmers in 2020. The state agriculture agency said it has six full-time employees devoted to the hemp sector.
