State departments of Agriculture and Public Safety in South Dakota, USA, released draft rules for licensing of hemp in the state. Under the proposal, licenses will cost growers $500; processors, $2,000; field inspection, $250 per location; processor inspection, $500 per location; and transporters $25. The rules are in a plan the state is working out with the U.S. Department of Agriculture for farming, processing and transporting industrial hemp. The state legislature legalized industrial hemp during its last session. The state will take written comments on the rules for hemp through Nov. 23.
