Textile firms from U.S., India hook up

Hemp Industry FirmsU.S. clothing maker The Good Clothing Co. (GCC) said it signed a partnership with AKR Textiles of Tirupur, India to manufacture and develop the company’s U.S. clothing line. GCC is located in Fall River, Massachusetts. AKR, which produces 85 million articles of clothing a year, is also talking with GCC about the potential for developing hemp weaving operations in Massachusetts. The company recently received a $120,000 Workforce Training Fund matching grant from the state to hire and train as many as 20 seamstresses, cutters and pattern makers. Good Clothing is among several Fall River firms working to build a niche in specialized textile making. Massachusetts legalized growing and harvesting of hemp for clothing this year, said Kathryn Hilderbrand, GCC’s owner.

COPPER CLUB: Hemp, Inc. says it has a started up a NuAxon Tech CO2 Supercritical Extractor in North Carolina.  The technology is from NuAxon BioScience, which is in a joint venture with Freedom Leaf, Inc. All of the parties are traded on penny exchanges. Hemp, Inc. is currently facing fraud charges by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). . . . U.S.-based CBD developer Cannabis Science, Inc. and Free Spirit Organics Native American Corporation says its hemp harvest on 60 acres of land is under way on San Joaquin Sovereign Tribal lands in California.
