Two Colorado-based CBD makers submitted food safety applications in the United Kingdom under Novel Foods rules this week. Folium Biosciences and Treehouse Biotech follow other U.S.-based CBD firms that say they have applied for market access in the UK, including HempFusion Wellness and Medical Marijuana, Inc. subsidiary Kannaway. Folium’s application extends to its white-label finished products as well as the company’s broad spectrum hemp oil water soluble powder. Treehouse’s application covers pure cannabinoid isolates, broad spectrum distillates and custom cannabinoid formulas. UK-based firms Vitality CBD and Love Hemp also recently submitted Novel Food applications. The UK Food Standards Agency recently extended the application period to March 31.
