David Williams, agronomy professor at the University of Kentucky (UK) will give an overview of the U.S. hemp industry at the Australian Industrial Hemp Conference Feb. 27–March 2, 2018 at the Rydges Geelong hotel, Geelong, Victoria in South Australia.

Williams has carried out research into hemp varieties that can be used in such products as hemp-based building materials, biocomposites and cannabidiol, and has looked at dual cropping — hemp’s potential for yielding both straw and seeds from the same plant.

Australia’s fast-moving market

A full roster of speakers will bring international perspectives to the Australian conference, which will look at all aspects of the fast-moving Australian market where hemp-seed-based foods became legal for human consumption last year, and where the government recently approved exporting medical cannabis products.

The conference is designed for growers, researchers, processors, end-market buyers and investors.
