INTERVIEW: Satish Hodage of YUJ Labs says agricultural residues, including hemp, can be transformed into functional materials that support the global bioeconomy. Drawing on more than 25 years of experience in pulp and paper technology, Hodage has developed processes that apply lignin and cellulose chemistry to create sustainable biomaterials. Speaking at the NIHC Global Industrial Hemp Fiber Summit at North Carolina State University’s Wilson College of Textiles, he outlined YUJ Labs’ partnerships with stakeholders such as BioPhil Fiber to test and scale new solutions. Founded in 2022 in Charlotte, North Carolina, YUJ Labs is focused on converting waste streams into valuable inputs for industrial applications.
