Students in Pennsylvania, USA public schools will have the chance to learn about hemp while making sustainable plastic using the plant, state officials said. The state’s Departments of Agriculture and Education jointly announced the hemp lesson, one of several options being offered to students in kindergarten through high school during a virtual farm show set for January. Students will learn why hemp cellulose represents a more biodegradable and non-toxic alternative to the petroleum-based plastics. Lessons are also being offered in organic farming and how to raise livestock.
