California-based Hemp Authority LLC said it will move to full domestic production of its lineup of hemp products by the end of the year. The company has been sourcing roughly 25% of its products — mainly clothing, accessories and beauty products — from abroad, said owner Jesse Clymer

“It isn’t enough for our company to be a leader in sustainability with our hemp products. Local sourced and American manufacturing as a whole is key to job creation and provides substantial economic growth,” Clymer said.

Clymer noted estimates show the U.S. imports about $100 billion dollars’ worth of hemp textiles annually.

Hemp Authority, based in Orange County, California, currently sources American-made products from suppliers in Vermont, New Jersey, California, and other states, Clymer said.
