New conference to focus on bio-plastics in cars

With the amount of plastics in modern cars constantly increasing, a new conference, Bio!CAR, is to debut this September.

According to the Hürth, Germany-based nova-Institut, the European car industry processed approximately 80,000 tonnes of wood and natural fibres into composites in 2012, with the total volume of bio-based composites in automotive engineering pegged at 150,000 tons that year.

The conference will cover bio-based polymers and natural fibres in the automotive industry, which are growing as base material for interior trims of high-quality doors and dashboards.

The Bio!CAR conference will debut at the Exhibition Centre Stuttgart on September 24-25 as part of Composites Europe 2015. Co-organizers are Bioplastics magazine, and the nova-Institute in cooperation with the German Federation for Reinforced Plastic. (PRESS RELEASE)
